Fact Checking is Hard and Stuff

Here is an excerpt from a news article about what liberal bloggers are writing(and no doubt talked about on some Air America programs)

A handful of liberal bloggers have wasted no time politicizing the Hurricane Katrina disaster, alleging that the Iraq war has stripped New Orleans of National Guard protection and blasting President Bush for not dealing with global warming.

"So far today, I've looked at Global Warming and Katrina and the crisis resulting from Louisiana's National Guard being in Iraq instead of defending their state," complains the "Swing State" blog.

Nothing like letting the facts get in the way.

I guess they underestimated how many they'd need - heard another 40,000 are on their way.

True, but underestimated what is needed is a far cry from saying that someone is at fault for using the guard for their purpose (not that this work isn't their purpose). I guess it is easy to armchair quarterback in hindsight and I am sure if Bush or other government officials could have used hindsight this would have come out differently.
