Why I love Wednesdays - Part 2
Last Wednesday I talked about my love of comics and the thrill I get when I know I can go to my local comic book store and grab the latest installments. Today I will talk about my other reason for enjoying my Wednesdays....D&D.
I have been playing D&D since 1983 when I received the Basic D&D set as a present. (Enter the gaping hole...) Next Challenge was to find some people to play it with. Luckily I found two such individuals. (still friends and still gaming)
Today I play every Wednesday (and occasional Saturday or Sunday) with a new group of friends I have known going on three years now. I spent the 90's mostly not playing D&D because I didn't know anyone in the area I could game with.
D&D is much more than rolling dice, it's a chance to be the hero in a story (if you are playing a character), the chance to be an author of the story (If you are running the game), and a chance to spend time with friends when the daily/weekly grind of normal life would otherwise pass us by.
